IOG CEO and Founder Charles Hoskinson reflects on Cardano Longevity and his commitment to decentralization, saying that those are his life's work.
Over the weekend, the founder of Cardano appeared in a live stream entitled “See You See You on the other side.” During the live stream, he recalls his leadership role at IOG and how the team achieved major milestones and positioned Cardano as a fully decentralized project that “can stand at the test of time.”
The evolution of the cardano governance system
He highlighted the way Cardano's governance system evolved from a centralized approach to fully decentralisation. Hoskinson proposed that Cardano achieved this feat under the Voltaire Governance Framework, which began in the third quarter of 2024.
After the start of the Voltaire era, Hoskinson said Cardano passed a new constitution that was verified through the chain ratification process and constitutional treaties.
He added that Cardano currently has a nearby registered, delegated representative (DRE), and the network's decision-making power is distributed. Based on this measure, the broader Cardano community has the authority to make important decisions and determine the future direction of the project.
Cardano is not centralized
Given this milestone, Hoskinson emphasized that he and his team removed all the elements of centralization from Cardano and positioned them as a fully decentralized project. In particular, the concept of decentralization is a core principle that many blockchain projects strive to achieve.
Additionally, he said that Cardano, like Bitcoin, is designed to stand the test of time. This shows that Hoskinson sees Cardano as a resilient platform that can withstand harsh conditions. As a result, he took pride in Cardano's achievements and pointed out that they were “the work of his life.”
Despite celebrating the milestone, he has shown that his work is not perfect. He hopes to see Cardano's decentralization and resilience “attaining the next level.”
Hoskinson embarks on a risky trip
For context, Hoskinson appeared in the live stream after a short trip to Paris, France. While still recovering from the trip, he reveals plans to embark on another journey somewhere known as “danger.”
The founders of Cardano suggested that the journey could be dangerous to some extent death. Given the risks involved, Hoskinson said he chose to do a live weekend stream just in case he didn't go home.
Nevertheless, he is filled with efforts at Cardano, describing the arrival of decentralization and resilience as the work of his life.
