Something big is happening at the White House on Monday, April 14th. President Donald Trump is set to host El Salvador President Naive Buquer for his official visit. With both leaders supporting Bitcoin, can this meeting raise the price of BTC with a big announcement?
Salvador Conference in the United States
President Bukere will be the first leader in the Western Hemisphere to visit Trump at the White House during his current term. The conference comes at a time of tension as the US places high tariffs on many countries and creates global economic pressure.
Several countries have already spoken to Trump, leading to a 90-day suspension on tariffs, except for China.
However, El Salvador is still facing 10% US tariffs, which could be one of the topics under the meeting.
Bukere has also been attracting attention around the world for his harsh actions against crime. He imprisoned nearly 2% of El Salvador's population with strong oppression of gangs like MS-13 and Tren de Aragua.
Could Bitcoin be a major topic?
Also, many people are asking if Bitcoin will become part of the conference. El Salvador became the first country to make Bitcoin a fiat currency. According to Bitbo, the country currently owns more than 6,089 Bitcoin, worth around $508 million.
Trump has also shown interest in digital money and financial freedom. Therefore, it is not surprising that Bitcoin is mentioned during the lecture. If so, this will bring a lot of attention to Bitcoin and possibly affect its price.
For now, Bitcoin has hovered at around $83,340, reflecting a 1% increase seen in the last 24 hours, reaching its market capitalization of $1.65 trillion.
