US President Donald Trump denounced Beijing, saying China had “completely violated” the tariff agreement with the US. “That may not be surprising, but China is completely violating our agreement,” Trump said.
The official White House mirror also supported Trump's statement. Miller said “there are a wide range of options to keep China accountable,” indicating that the US could take new steps against Beijing. Miller also said that China would not allow China to rob its US production capacity and espionage conducted through student visas would be suspended.
Miller argued that China has not fulfilled its commitment to the US, saying “China must demonstrate its commitment to a rules-based international order.” Miller has told us that President Trump wants China to choose a path of “cooperation and a common foundation.”
The Chinese Embassy in Washington responded to these statements by the United States. A spokesperson for the embassy said: “China is calling on the United States to end discriminatory restrictions and jointly protect the consensus reached at high-level consultations in Geneva.”
China and the US continue to maintain contact with a variety of opportunities at the bilateral and multilateral levels in the economic and trade sector, and both sides have expressed concern, the spokesman said.
