According to a post on Tuesday by Whale Alert, accounts tracking major cryptocurrency transfers have moved 100 million Tether (USDT) tokens to Bitfinex exchanges from Tether Treasury, a central wallet controlled by the stubcoin issuer.
A similar relocation of 127 million USDT was made last June 27th. On June 25th, 148 million USDT was sent to an unknown wallet.
Before the latest transaction, USD 100 million was sent from Bitfinex to Tether Toeasure on the Tron blockchain.
So the move recorded on Tuesday was probably a chain swap, which involves transferring USDT from one blockchain to another. Bitfinex Exchange acted as an intermediary.
On June 22, Tether minted a total of 2 billion tokens at the Tether Ministry of Finance. Other major mint events took place on June 18th.
According to data provided by Coingecko, USDT's total market capitalization is currently at $157 billion.
