In June, Crypto's market capitalization recorded a modest 2.62% increase, even if volatility increased due to rising Middle East geopolitical tensions. Investor concerns over potential energy supply disruptions and increased regional instability have created sustained pressure on asset prices.
Nevertheless, spot trade volumes from DEX to CEX reached a historic peak of 27.9% in June.
Dex Fever will hit in June
Dex's trading volume has more than doubled over the past year. This contrasts with flat volumes on the CEX platform, according to the latest Binance Research Report, shared with Cryptopotato.
In fact, Pancakeswap led to growth in DEX market share, rising from 16% in April to 42% in June due to an Infinity upgrade that increased the growth in Alpha trading volume and efficiency in speed, cost and liquidity. Increased on-chain activity at World Liberty Financial also increased liquidity and provided opportunities.
Hyperliquid's spot volume rose from $6 billion in January to nearly $10 billion in June.
At Solana, Pumpswap also maintained strong user engagement. The same cannot be said about Raydium, Orca and Meteora, who struggled to match the peak of January trading and then fueled Meme Coin's hype.
Hybrid CEDEFI Platform narrows the gap
The main driving force behind this growth is that CEXES is increasingly channeling activities towards the DEX platform. Several large-scale exchanges have launched or revealed a hybrid model that integrates CEX liquidity with on-chain settlements.
Binance Research explained that these CEDEFI offerings offer low-list trading, MEV protection and fast transactions, enabling DEX scalability while filling the gap between centralized and distributed crypto markets.
He also said that DEFI's flexible regulatory environment allows Dexes to innovate and expand new features that drive on-chain volumes. Meanwhile, CEX spot volumes are more vulnerable to external market shifts throughout the year, as they are linked to retail speculation, macro conditions and volatility.
