Despite its marketing, the VWA token has no connection to BlackRock or Vanguard Investments, and did not appear on The Simpsons.

The sudden rise in the VWA token, sold as “Vanguard RWA,” has garnered a lot of attention among traders, with some even touting its connection to The Simpsons. On Monday, October 6th, the token rapidly reached $1 million in daily trading volume, just days after its launch.
Just four days ago, the SOL-VWA trading pair appeared on the Jupiter decentralized exchange. During this time, the VWA token price reached $0.007457 and the market cap reached $7.4 million. Still, many traders have pointed out major red flags regarding this token.
As an example, VWA, also branded as Vanguard RWA, claims to be a real-world asset project that brings gold and silver to Solana. However, despite its branding, the token has no connection to Vanguard Investments or BlackRock, and neither company has made any mention of it.

Did The Simpsons predict the surge in VWA tokens?
Perhaps the most outlandish claim was that VWA tokens appeared on the famous show “The Simpsons.” Several social media accounts on X and Instagram have published images that appear to have appeared in recent episodes of the anime series.

Manipulated images of “The Simpsons” that didn't actually appear in any episode are a common way to garner social media hype. Some of the same images contained other tokens that had previously crashed.
Additionally, on-chain data indicates that insiders likely control a large portion of the supply. In other words, the bubble map snapshot shows that the top 50 addresses control 89% to 90% of the ownership. Furthermore, most of these addresses are clustered with smart contract addresses, indicating that they may be owned by insiders.

The concentration of ownership and the use of hype tactics suggests that traders will exercise extreme caution regarding the token in question.
