The crypto sector launched an unprecedented humanitarian response to the devastating fire in Hong Kong's Tai Po district that claimed at least 65 lives and left hundreds still missing as of November 27th.
The fire, which soon broke out at Wang Fu Court, is now considered the city's deadliest fire in recent decades.
The scale of the destruction has left the city reeling, with support pouring in from across the community, including major cryptocurrency companies with strong ties to Hong Kong.
Crypto industry steps in with millions of dollars in aid
Several leading digital asset companies have announced donations to support the Tai Po community's emergency relief and long-term reconstruction efforts.

Bitget is leading the relief effort, contributing HK$12 million. Single largest public contribution from the sector.
Bitget will donate HK$12 million to fully support the rebuilding of the families and communities affected by the Wang Fu Courthouse fire in Tai Po, Hong Kong. Donations are now entrusted to three of Hong Kong's most trusted charities.

Funds are entrusted to three major charities in Hong Kong to ensure transparency and proper distribution.
- Yan Chai Hospital receives HK$5 million for emergency medical care and rehabilitation
- Hong Kong Salvation Army receives HK$3.5 million in temporary housing, supplies and family support
- Po Leung Kuk will receive HK$3.5 million for counseling and long-term social services.

Binance
Binance said its goal is to provide practical assistance to Wang Fu Court residents as they begin to rebuild their homes, pledging HK$10 million.

The company shared a message on social media titled “Heart Connected to Hong Kong” to express condolences to the victims and give strength to survivors.

Hong Kong-based HashKey also contributed HK$10 million. The company said its hearts go out to all affected residents and it will continue to work with the cities that form the core of our communities.

Avenir joined Binance and Hashkey in pledging an additional HK$10 million to relief and reconstruction efforts.
Kucoin
KuCoin said it stands with Hong Kong during this difficult time and announced a donation of HK$2 million. The exchange added that its assistance is aimed at helping residents recover and return to normal life.
Additionally, BiFinance pledged HK$1 million, and OSL's management and shareholders contributed HK$3 million. RD Technologies is also donating HK$1 million to support emergency relief.
Relief efforts continue
Hundreds of people remain missing and Hong Kong's emergency services are working around the clock to find survivors. Relief organizations are providing food, blankets and medical assistance to the displaced.
