Zcache (ZEC) made a big jump in the last few months of 2025, hitting new all-time highs while Bitcoin and most altcoins were falling, but its recent performance has been pretty lackluster.
ZEChit an all-time high of over $700 in November, but has fallen by about 50% to about $360.
Despite the significant decline seen in recent weeks; ZEC continues to make headlines and the latest news comes from Gemini Exchange.
According to reports, Tyler and Cameron Winklevoss, founders of US-based cryptocurrency exchange Gemini, have donated $1.2 million to Zcash.
According to The Block, Shielded Labs announced on the 21st (local time) that it received a donation of 3,221 Zcash (equivalent to approximately $1.2 million) from the Winklevoss twins.
As a result, we received donations from 3,221 people. ZEC was sent to ZCash developers, Shielded Labs, which includes Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox.
It is stated that these funds will be used for protocol efforts aimed at improving the security and scalability of the Zcash network.
Shielded Labs issued the following statement:
“Gemini’s founders have long supported Zcash’s mission.”
They have consistently supported the Zcash ecosystem through Gemini.
Additionally, Gemini has become the first major exchange to support Zcash withdrawals.
Cameron Winklevoss, co-founder of Gemini, said, “Strong privacy is an essential ingredient of healthy money, which is why we have supported Zcash for many years. And Shielded Labs is doing very important work at the protocol level. So we are happy to support Shielded Labs.”
