Important dates announced for XRP futures traders

CME Group, the world's leading derivatives market, has announced important dates for XRP futures traders.

On X social media, CME Group announced in a tweet on December 8th, “7 days left until the release of spot price XRP and SOL futures,'' and the countdown to the release of spot price XRP futures.

Spot quoted XRP futures are scheduled to launch on CME Group's platform on December 15th, pending regulatory review.

In May 2025, XRP and micro-XRP futures were added and XRP was launched for the first time in CME Group. The first trade took place on May 18th and was cleared by Hidden Road, and since then, CME Group has never looked back as XRP rapidly gains momentum.

XRP CME futures reached $1 billion in open interest in just three months, making it the fastest contract to do so and demonstrating increasing institutional participation in XRP.

In October, CME Group expanded its support for XRP and added options to its futures suite, allowing traders to trade options on XRP and micro-XRP futures with daily, monthly, and quarterly expirations. The first XRP futures options trade took place on October 12th and was executed between Wintermute and Superstate.

In a recent tweet, CME Group reported that crypto futures and options notional trading volume reached $250 billion in November. The XRP suite accounted for $6.9 billion.

XRP gains momentum

As reported, the XRP ETF has surpassed $1 billion in just over a month since its launch. November saw a flurry of XRP ETF launches, including Canary Capital, Franklin Templeton, Bitwise, and Grayscale. Amplify ETF, which manages more than $16 billion in assets under management, also launched the XRP Covered Call ETF, which it calls the first XRP-based option income ETF.
