Metamask confirmed in a post on X over the weekend that it will roll out a new Onchain Rewards program in the coming weeks, securing more than $30 million in Linea tokens for its first season.
The wallet app described the initiative as “one of the biggest on-chain rewards programs ever built,” but it's a way to “reciprocally give back” to users, rather than agriculture play.

Yes, a rewards program is in progress. 👀
Details you've seen/heard before do not show what actually launches. Let's talk a bit about what the actual Metamask Rewards program will look like.
This program will bring you referral rewards, MUSD…

Rewards include referral bonuses, MUSD incentives, exclusive partner rewards, token access and other perks, Metamusk said.
Long-time users receive special benefits, and the program is explicitly connected to a long-standing metamask token.
“OGS will not be ignored,” the team wrote, implying early adopters allocation.
Linea is Consency's in-house Ethereum Layer 2 network, which was launched in September with 9.4 billion token airdrops. Allocating $30 million in Linea for Metamask rewards brings together the two flagship projects and uses the bootstrap activity in a new rollup using Metamask reach.
Metamask's Musd Stablecoin, issued by a Stripe-owned bridge, was also launched last month and now has a circular supply of nearly $88 million.
Because the rewards are partially tied to MUSD, the program is designed to create incentives across wallets, stubcoins and layer 2 infrastructure.
Metamask does not clarify whether certain jurisdictions will be excluded or whether anti-sybil rules will be enforced. This is an important detail given that the rewards program is being filmed by farmers.
