As reported by U.Today, Gemini released its XRP credit card on Monday.
Offering up to 4% cashback on a variety of products and services, the card was released for a significant profit on the price recorded by XRP tokens, says Gemini.
However, the product received a rather lukewarm response within the XRP community, and many claim that it failed to live up to the hype the exchange was trying to generate before the announcement.
Gemini has been awarding the XRP Award for several months with regular rewards. In other words, new products don't bring anything particularly novel to the table.
Some XRP holders have also criticized the fact that new cards are only available in the US
“The limit of a whale”
Following the slimy reception, Garlinghouse and Gemini are about to spin the excitement of a new product launched in collaboration with Ripple.
Gemini CEO Tyler Winklevoss says the exchange will give Ripple Garlinghouse the “whale limit” to his XRP card. “He's said to be good for that,” he said.
Ripple's Chief Technology Officer David Schwartz also posted his XRP Rewards card and drinking with XRPresso, which he holds while wearing an XRP shirt and belt.
Winklevoss also notes that the card has become one of the top trending tokens.
Gemini's deep relationship with Ripple
Despite some degree of friction between the past XRP community and Gemini, the exchange is now deepening its relationship with ripples.
Apart from the launch of the XRP card, Exchange has also expanded access to Ripple's RLUSD Stablecoin.
