Ronin, a blockchain for gaming, has moved Ronin Bridge to Chainlink's cross-chain interoperability protocol.
Ronin Network (Ron) announced the completion of its migration to ChainLink (Link) Cross-Chain Interoperability Protocol on April 25th, as the Web3 Games platform was created by the Sky Mavis team behind Axie Infitnity (AXS) games.
CCIP is currently the Canonical Cross-Chain Infrastructure provider at Ronin Bridge. The milestone comes months after the October 2024 Validator Community votes chose to link the platform chains around Layer Zero and Acceleral.
At the time of the announcement, ChainLink will help secure more than $450 million in assets at Ronin.
Sky Mavis CEO and co-founder Trung Nguyen commented on the development.
“The migration to ChainLink CCIP is a major unlock for Ronin as it scales to the most accessible and secure gaming and consumer chains on Web3. Developers quickly and securely build cross-chain infrastructure, while users can easily bridge assets across the multi-chain ecosystem and open doors to the next generation of games and apps.”

Ronin Bridge suffered a massive exploit in 2022, with hackers stolen more than $600 million in code. The platform suspended trading at the bridge in August 2024 amid a questionable $10 million withdrawal.
Therefore, adopting ChainLink CCIP is one of the efforts to increase the security of your bridging assets. The platform also plans to leverage other ChainLink solutions to improve user experience and adoption, including gaining distributed finance traction.
The migration now allows users to transfer all supported tokens. This involves reciprocating and traveling between axs, ygg, banana, usdc and wrapped bitcoin with Ronin. Transfers are made via the ChainLink CCIP-driven Ronin Bridge app.
Despite the latest developments, the deprecated Ronin Bridge tab is visible. According to the Ronin Network team, many users have not yet charged tokens with Ethereum. These pending withdrawal requests are why the legacy bridge is still visible.
