The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has begun the process of reviewing CBOE exchanges' proposed rule changes.
SEC begins consideration of Bitcoin ETF amendment proposal!
According to Chinese cryptocurrency journalist Wu Blockchain, the SEC has begun considering whether to approve or reject the CBOE's proposed changes to the trading size of Bitcoin ETF options.
The SEC announced that it has begun reviewing the Cboe Options Exchange's (CBOE) proposal to change the tick size of Mini Bitcoin US ETF Index (MBTX) options.
The proposal includes setting the minimum price increment range to $0.01 for options less than $3. $0.05 for options over $3.
The SEC said it will further evaluate whether the proposal meets the requirements of securities laws to prevent manipulation, promote fair trading, and protect investors and await public feedback.
The deadline for submitting comments is set as January 21, 2026.
CBOE filed its proposal with the SEC in late September, arguing that the changes were necessary to ensure consistency with BlackRock's spot BTC ETF IBIT, which already employs a narrower price appreciation range.
