Sharplink, a key leading company at Ether Holdings, hired a veteran BlackRock executive as the company's Ether Treasury Race heated up.
Former BlackRock senior executive Joseph Charom joined Sharplink as the new co-CEO that came into effect on July 24th. The company announced on Friday.
In his new role in Sharplink, Chalom will be responsible for shaping and implementing Sharplink's global strategy in the open market and Ethereum-based digital infrastructure, and his LinkedIn page reads.
Shalom's arrival at Sharplink has made BlackRock's Ishares Ethereum Trust (ETHA) a $10 billion worth of assets in history, becoming the third fastest exchange-traded fund (ETF) in history.
BlackRock is the world's largest Crypto ETF provider
New recruiting for Sharplink is important given Chalom's 20 years of work at BlackRock, the world's largest Crypto ETF provider with $95.7 billion in Crypto's managed door set.
As former managing director at BlackRock and head of Strategic Ecosystem Partnerships, Charom was responsible for developing and managing BlackRock's strategies for digital assets, index-data relationships, investments and more.

According to Sharplink's announcement, BlackRock's ETHA launch in July 2024 included Chalom's work. Chalom previously served on the board of tokenized asset platforms and Clarityai, an AI-based data analytics platform.

“The commitment to align Sharplink's strategic direction with the Ethereum Ecosystem reflects a bold, advanced vision that deeply resonates with the passion for digital assets and the scaling of innovative financial technology,” said the former BlackRock executive.
Competition with Sharplink's Bitmine
The announcement of Sharplink comes a day after rival Bitmine Immersion Technologies revealed its acquisition of major ether (ETH).
Bitmine Immersion Technologies, a Bitcoin (BTC) mining company that announced plans to establish the Ethereum Treasury on June 30, said it had purchased 566,776 ETH, worth more than $2 billion.
With the purchase of new ether, Bitmine has overturned Sharplink's 360,807 ETH total shares.
Apart from former BlackRock executives, Sharplink tapped Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin as chairman of the board when it announced the Ethereum Treasury in May last year.
In response, Bitmine appointed FundStrat founder and Crypto Bull Tom Lee as chairman of the board in June.
