Digital asset advocacy group Stand With Crypto's online enrollment grew by 675,000 people last year, reaching about 2.6 million people in the U.S. ahead of the 2026 congressional elections.
The group has sent its members to political writing campaigns in support of U.S. crypto legislation, totaling 925,000 emails by 2025 and more than 1 million emails since its founding, according to a Thursday report shared with CoinDesk. The group says it now has chapters in each state and has organized four fly-ins to Washington to directly address policy initiatives.
In October, it announced that it had coordinated the sending of 250,000 letters to members of Congress to counter the Wall Street bank lobby seeking to reinstate stablecoin yield stance under the Guiding and Establishing National Innovation for U.S. Stablecoins (GENIUS) Act. This debate over whether dollar-based tokens should be able to offer yield to users has become a fundamental contention between the cryptocurrency sector and banks. Bankers see this as a threat to their core deposit-taking business, and digital asset platforms want to provide incentives for customers to use their business.
Coinbase founded Stand With Crypto in 2023, funded its initial activities, and continues to be a partner and donor alongside other companies such as Kraken, Gemini, Anchorage Digital, and Paradigm, in addition to contributions from members. Since its inception, U.S. voters have increasingly viewed cryptocurrencies as an important political topic shaping their thinking about candidates, according to polls over the past few years. One of the organization's most high-profile efforts is to rank U.S. politicians along the lines of their support for cryptocurrencies. With midterm congressional elections looming in November, lawmakers are likely to have further opportunities to decide whether to advance or resist crypto legislation in the coming months.
Two months ago, Stand With Crypto launched its 2026 Candidate Survey aimed at evaluating candidates for federal and state elections. The results, expected to be announced early this year, will determine how the organization plays out in the election.
